The Toronto Raptors have chosen former NBA All-Star Jerry Stackhouse to be the head coach of their D-League franchise, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that Stackhouse, after breaking into coaching last season as an assistant to Toronto's Dwane Casey, will soon be introduced as the new coach for the Raptors 905 in nearby Mississauga, Ontario.

Stackhouse, 41, served as the head coach of the Raptors' summer-league team in Las Vegas for a few games last month and will take the next step in his bench career with this move to succeed new Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Jesse Mermuys as Raptors 905 head coach for their second season in the D-League.
