Restricted free agent Brenden Dillon has agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension with the San Jose Sharks, his agent, Jarrett Bousquet, confirmed to ESPN.com.

The deal is worth an average of $3.27 million per season and includes a $500,000 signing bonus, a source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

The 24-year-old defenseman joined the Sharks in a trade with the Dallas Stars back in November.

He had two goals, nine points and 54 penalty minutes in 60 games for the Sharks this season and wanted to remain a member of the organization.

"Both sides are excited," Bousquet said of the new deal.
