Lane's 30-year Veteran Teacher Still Brings a Fresh Perspective

The district will launch the Personalized Learning Initiative this fall, engaging 220 teachers and more than 7,000 students in classrooms across all schools and grade levels.

In the coming school year, the district will continue with an exciting professional learning endeavor for certificated employees who have reached the top of their salary schedule.

Fresno Unified's Board of Education will consider whether it should place a $225 million bond measure on the November ballot.

This fall, three new career technical education (CTE) pathways are added to the menu at Duncan Polytechnical High School: advanced manufacturing, welding/fabrication, and rehabilitation therapy.

ECO Works with District to Support Students

As Central Valley residents we know the risks to our health associated with poor outdoor air quality.

This month's Student Spotlight is on Jacquelyne Casillas, who is in the first cohort of the Steve's Scholars program and is on track to graduate in 2018 from Roosevelt High School.

Teachers and staff are eagerly waiting to welcome students back to school on Aug. 15 and have been busy preparing for the 2016-17 academic year.

Over the summer, Fresno Unified continued to provide opportunities outside of the traditional school year for students to receive additional support, with 13,561 students participating in the Expanded Learning Summer Program.

Students Learn Theater Arts over the Summer:

Liz Stoeckel, a teaching artist with the Fresno Arts Council, works with students during Theater Summer School at Roosevelt School of the Arts. The four-week program was part of a new initiative, Fifth Grade on Broadway, made possible by a $100,000 donation from Francine and Murray Farber of Fresno.

Five teaching artists from the Fresno Arts Council and two Fresno Unified elementary teachers taught theater movement, visual arts, script writing and acting each day of the program.
