FRESNO, Calif. -- Is there an elaborate network of tunnels beneath Fresno's streets?

That's one theory to explain a series of spaces and passageways beneath buildings in historic Chinatown. While some believe they're just forgotten basements, others contend that a series of tunnels beneath the city used to serve as escape routes for often-targeted Chinese immigrants.
