FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Valadao thanked his supporters and family Tuesday night. He said he was happy by the Republican victories across the country. He said he is hoping a Republican majority in both houses will help move legislation that is stalled in congress.

"I am expecting the president to be a lot more willing to work across the aisle. With about 400 bills stalled in the Senate, we will be able to move some bills which have bi-partisan support . He's going to have to start taking some positions," said Valadao.

Meantime, Amanda Renteria accepted her loss Tuesday night in Bakersfield after the race was called. She said it was an honor to run and she loved getting voters excited and energized about voting. She said her only regret is that she didn't run sooner.

"Here's the reality. When we first started this we said a couple things. We said we're going to towns no one's been to, we're going to tell them they matter not just during the elections but in their communities and that's what we've done tonight, during this entire year and I'm proud of everything campaign has done," said Amanda Renteria.

Renteria campaigned hard in Bakersfield and fought hard to close the gap between her and David Valadao. She also had some big support in her community.

Just last month Vice President Joe Biden traveled to the Valley to campaign for Renteria at a rally.
