Authorities searching for Valley native found guilty of sex crimes

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The search is on for a Central Valley native found guilty of sex crimes against a young girl who never made it to prison.

Carl Cacconie vanished in August of 2025, and the victim's family is blaming the judge in the case.

Cacconie was found guilty in El Dorado County and was set to return to court a month later, but he never showed up and is now missing.

The victim and her mother say they now live with fear and anger over the decision not to immediately take Cacconie into custody.

At trial, a Madera County woman testified that Cacconie also abused her when she was a girl.

The sex offender's family reported him missing, claiming he left a suicide note, but prosecutors believe Cacconie is still alive and says anyone who's helping hide him will also face charges.
