Madera adopts exterior color standards for commercial buildings
Business owners planning to paint or build commercial buildings in Madera will now be required to choose from a city-approved color palette.

MADERA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Business owners planning to paint or build commercial buildings in Madera will now be required to choose from a city-approved color palette under newly adopted exterior color standards approved by the City Council.

The new standards apply to new construction, building additions and reconstruction following a natural disaster. The rules also cover repainting of existing buildings within the city's commercial zone districts.

Under the standards, property owners must select colors from an approved palette that includes 88 exterior base colors and 91 trim colors. The palette ranges from soft whites and earth tones to deeper accent shades.

City leaders say the standards are intended to create a more unified appearance along Madera's commercial corridors.
