Man hospitalized after falling into manhole in northeast Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A local man is in the hospital after falling through an open manhole in northeast Fresno.

It happened Monday night after 5:30 on Cedar and Santa Ana.

Fresno firefighters say the injured person is visually impaired and did not see the open vault.

He suffered a broken leg and minor cuts during the fall.

It took firefighters 20 minutes to get him out.
