FRESNO, Calif. -- The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash on Highway 99, just south of Westside Boulevard.
Around 12:25 a.m. several 911 calls came in reporting a vehicle had hit a pedestrian and left the scene.
CHP officers quickly responded and found the man lying in the middle of the highway. Officers attempted life-saving measures on the man until emergency medical personnel arrived.
Despite those life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not identified the victim, but said he was 34-years-old. They say he was walking on the highway for unknown reasons when he was hit by a vehicle traveling north. That vehicle did not stop and kept traveling north on Highway 99.
Investigators are working to determine if drugs or alcohol were factors in this incident.
