Suspected DUI crash kills one person in Fresno County, CHP says
The California Highway Patrol is investigating a suspected DUI crash that killed a man in his 40s on Friday evening.

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. -- The California Highway Patrol is investigating a suspected DUI crash that killed a man in his 40s.

Around 5:10 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to a crash on Kearny Avenue, west of Dickerson Avenue.

EMS personnel also responded and performed life-saving measures on the driver, who died from his injuries.

CHP says that according to a preliminary investigation, a Chevrolet Malibu was heading westbound on Kearney Avenue at a high rate of speed.

The car veered off the roadway and crashed into a palm tree.

The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car.

Officials say no other vehicles or parties were involved.

Alcohol is a suspected factor in this crash as the investigation continues.
