Valley natives get engaged in a high-flying way

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A skydiving experience doubled as a surprise for one Valley native.

As Erin Breyfogle made her way down from 18,000-feet above the ground she saw a message had been laid down for her on the ground below.

She landed a couple of minutes after her boyfriend who was waiting for her with a ring.

Erin, who's from Selma, and Matthew Cardona, a Kingsburg native- have been together for eight years.

They met in the Central Valley but now live in the bay area where they are both sixth-grade teachers.

The bride-to-be said she was completely caught off guard.

"And as soon as I read it I started balling and then he was like, 'we have to land now put your feet up,'" said Erin.

"Just her reaction, you could tell she had no idea, it was amazing. It turned out better than I thought it was going to," said Mathew.

Erin and Matthew were in Monterey over the weekend to celebrate his birthday along with some members of his family.

Congratulations to the happy couple who have not yet set a date for the wedding.
