A Tulare County woman who pleaded guilty to a felony child endangerment charge connected to the brutal beating death of her toddler has been granted probation.
Five former Memphis police officers have been indicted by a federal grand jury in connection with the death of Tyre Nichols.
Preston Hemphill, who was not present at the beating, was fired from the Memphis Police Department in February for violating "multiple department policies" during the incident, the department said.
Mexican authorities have requested that a suspect be extradited from the U.S.
Both deputies were found to have failed to report to dispatch or their supervisor that they were on the scene, failed to have their body-worn camera in record mode and failed to report to dispatch they were leaving the scene, the department said in investigative reports.
After five Memphis police officers brutally beat Tyre Nichols last month, one officer took two cell phone photos of the visibly injured 29-year-old Black man and texted one image to at least five people, newly revealed internal police department documents show.
