A 67-year-old man has died after his vehicle crashed on Interstate 5 in Fresno County on Thursday afternoon.
About five people jumped and tackled the suspect, saying they pulled a broken spoon, which he allegedly turned into a weapon, out of his hand.
The TSA said in a statement released Sunday that it reviewed Friday's incident and found the agents did not fully use the technology at their disposal which would have identified the box cutters inside the passenger's carry-on luggage, nor did they follow protocol when they returned the "visible blades" back to the passenger after an inspection.
"That's not going to happen again," one of the veterans said as he explained he joined the Navy in 2001, and 9/11 was at the forefront of his mind during this flight.
Police said the male passenger walked onto the wing of Flight 2478 and then slid down onto the airfield, police said.
Max Berry had been drinking on a Frontier Airlines flight in August from Philadelphia to Miami when he spilled his drink on himself and a flight attendant.
