Two dead, one injured after Old Town Clovis bar shooting

CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- UPDATE:

The Clovis Police Department has released the suspect who was taken into custody in connection to a deadly shooting at an Old Town Clovis Bar.

Police conducted a search warrant at a home and took a suspect into custody. They were questioned and later released. Police are now treating them as a witness.

Orion Hanafin is describing the moment gunfire erupted inside of The Palace Bar and nightclub in Old Town Clovis.

"Twenty people just sprint out of the bar, I see people going like this (taking cover) and people hiding behind corners outside The Palace," she said.
Video provided by the Clovis Police Department shows the aftermath. Investigators say two men were shot and killed.

Those victims have been identified as 21-year-old Merehildo Luna of Fresno and 27-year-old Andres Sanchez of Sanger.

Another man was also hit by gunfire and is expected to survive. Hanafin was just outside the bar when it happened.

"When that went off, it didn't register to me that gun was going off," she said. I wasn't expecting that to happen."

Lt. Jim Munro with the Clovis Police Department says earlier in the day, there was a disagreement between the gunman and the victims inside The Palace.
The shooter and those who were with him were asked to leave - but returned hours later.

"Those subjects came back just after 2 am and walked directly into the bar, started shooting and fled right afterward," Munro said.
Munro says the gunman was accompanied by at least two other people.

One of them entered the bar with the shooter and the other drove the getaway car.

Hanafin is still recovering from the emotional trauma - but she says she's fortunate she wasn't hurt.
"I am just taking it one moment at a time," she said.

Munro says there will be an increased law enforcement presence tonight in Old Town Clovis.

Detectives are still looking into the motive behind the shooting.
