Body found after fire crews put out RV fire in Southeast Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Firefighters are on scene of a fatal fire on Orange Avenue and Lowe Avenue in southeast Fresno.

Neighbors say a man had been renting the property from the landowner who lives in a neighboring home. Witnesses saw flames shooting out of the roof around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

"It appears to us at this time that the fire did in fact start in the RV and extended to an adjacent vehicle in the back yard. We are fortunate we were able to get that fire knocked down before it spread to an adjacent apartment building," said Battalion Chief Rich Cabral.

Investigators will remain at the scene for the next several hours working with Fresno Police. Families tell Action News the man mostly kept to himself.

It is unclear if the man was dead before the fire started. The cause of death is still under investigation.
