MARIPOSA COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- It's the happiest of birthdays for Mariposa County High School fans who are celebrating 100 years of Grizzlies spirit.

"We've been having all the spirit days this week for all the history and it's just so exciting; the atmosphere is just great as you can tell," said MCHS junior Alton Rockwood.

Generations of students dating back to the 1930s and every decade after that proudly represented their class.

"I had no idea this many people would turn up," said Sally Uribe from the class of '55.

The homecoming celebration turnout was so large they had to hold it at the Mariposa County fairgrounds.

"There aren't that many situations where you can come from a small town like this and still feel this kind of comradery," said Debora Pioski Lanotte from the class of '75.

And the Grizzlies put on quite a show. The game was looking bleak for the home team, who were down two scores in the fourth quarter. But they turned it around and won 22 to 19 over the Gustine Redskins.

"All the older generations is really inspiring to see them all come out. It's kind of fun to see how spirited they still can be," said Roslyn Allison from the class of '05.

And the celebration doesn't end here. The school is going to be holding events all weekend long to commemorate their 100 year anniversary.
