Made in the Valley - Bird Street Brewing
It's five o'clock somewhere, and we're making beer. A South Valley resident who turned his passion into a growing business.

LEMOORE, Calif. (KFSN) -- It's five o'clock somewhere, and we're making beer. A South Valley resident who turned his passion into a growing business.

It's not a day at the office, but it's a busy day in the brew room at Bird Street Brewing in Lemoore.

"I think what really sets our beer a little bit apart is that we try to keep it small batch and as fresh as possible," said Philip Wren, CEO and Brewmaster.

Philip Wren started the side business about a year ago. He says it's been a science, making hand crafted ales from scratch.

"Everything from how you mill your grain, to what water temperature you soak your grains in to attract the sugars -- that affects your final product. So we have to be really precise every time to get that consistency," said Wren.

Wren says it takes about an eight hour day to make a full batch of beer whether it's an IPA or pale ale.

Bird Street Brewing draws a lot of inspiration from the Valley. One of their beers is named "The 198" and another seasonal strawberry ale called "3 Hours from Nowhere" is made with strawberries from Hanford. They also have plans to make a white IPA called "Dense Fog Advisory."

You can find at Best Buy markets in the south valley. In Fresno at Peeve's and Maroa Shell. As for future plans, the Lemoore native says he'd like to stay home and build a public tasting room to share his craft with others.

A local passion that he brews in every batch.
