Families welcome the Valley's first baby's of 2016
One Fresno mother rang in the New Year at the hospital for the birth of her baby girl.

FRESNO, Calif. -- Nyhia Lor checked in to Community Regional Medical Center on Thursday afternoon for a regular appointment, and shortly after, learned they were admitting her. Contractions didn't begin until about midnight, but about an hour and a half later, little Kajsiab was born.

Her actual due date was December 30th, so Nyhia said delivering Fresno's first baby of the New Year never crossed her mind.

I did not expect it. I was hoping someone else will," said Nyhia Lor.

Kajsiab weighed in at seven pounds, four ounces And is 20 inches long. She has four older siblings who are excited to have her.

Reedley's first baby of 2016 was Nevaeh -- which is heaven spelled backwards. Nevaeh wasn't supposed to arrive until Monday, but she just couldn't wait. She was born at 1:53 Friday morning at Adventist Medical Center.

Nevaeh is the eighth child of her family. She and mom are doing well Friday afternoon.
