Fire consumes Clovis home
Authorities say a lot of the fire was in the attic, so by the time they got there, it wasn't safe for them to try and fight it from the inside.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Clovis family lost a lifetime of work and memories to a fire Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters poured water on the home for more than half an hour, but the flames were just too much.

They say a lot of the fire was in the attic, so by the time they got there, it wasn't safe for them to try and fight it from the inside.

"There was one resident home at the time of the fire," John Binaski of the Clovis Fire Department said. "She reported it and then, unfortunately, it was just bigger then. By the time she recognized it, it was a much larger fire."

The woman got out of the house okay, but she and her husband basically lost everything.

Firefighters say the home is a total loss, but they kept the flames from jumping to neighboring homes.

The fire's cause is under investigation.
