6.5 earthquake strikes off the coast of Chile

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports a 6.5 magnitude earthquake has struck about 130 miles north of Santiago, Chile at around 10:40 (PST) Monday morning.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said there is no danger of a Tsunami for this earthquake.

On Wednesday, September 16th an 8.3 earthquake struck in roughly the same area -- about 175 miles north of Santiago. A Tsunami advisory was issued for parts of the California coast and Hawaii, but both areas only saw a mild surge.
