FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A disturbing discovery at a church in Fresno's Tower District. Saint Therese Catholic Church was vandalized Wednesday afternoon. Someone spray painted two black upsides down crosses near one of the doors.

Representatives with the Diocese of Fresno said nothing else was disturbed or damaged.

Action news spoke with a parishioner who is also a member of the Knights of Columbus and he said the markings point to a bigger problem in society.

"It shows kind of a decline in values for people. People used to think of churches being sacred, we never used to have to lock the doors. People could come in and worship anytime they wanted to. Now we have an iron fence around the place to keep it from being vandalized," said Kevin Mills, Knights of Columbus, parishioner.

The Fresno Police Departments Graffiti Team will clean up the markings tomorrow.
