Fatal hit and run accident in downtown Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno Police are looking for the driver of a van connected to a deadly hit and run Thursday afternoon.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. in the area of Fulton and Stanislaus.

Investigators spent hours collecting evidence from the scene. They say the driver of a white van hit a woman on a wheelchair as she crossed the street. "The vehicle struck her pushing her into the roadway. The driver of the vehicle pulled over, saw he struck someone, then drove off," explained Joe Alvarez, Fresno Police Department.

Police have not yet identified the victim, but say she was an 80-year-old woman.

The white van is unmarked but police believe it may be a Chevy and it should have some front end damage caused by the accident.
