KINGS COUNTY, Calif. -- Firefighters are monitoring a packing shed, which has been burning throughout the night.
It caught fire around 8 p.m. Thursday night, near Excelsior and 9th Avenues. The building specializes in dehydrating walnuts.
Firefighters say the flames threatened a second nearby structure, but they managed to keep those flames from spreading.
Fire crews from Tulare County, Fresno County, and the cities of Laton, Hanford and Lemoore helped get it under control.
"The good part is, the business owner is going to be able to continue his operation with the building that we saved. So it's not a total loss for him. This is their busy season of walnut harvesting right now," said Brandon Jones, Fire Marshal, Kings County Fire.
No one was hurt, but the damage is estimated at $2 million dollars. They're still trying to figure out how it started.
