FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Ruport Harrison of Mariposa was arrested after authorities say he was drunk when he hit and killed a man riding a bike on Highway 49, then fled the scene.

The California Highway Patrol says Harrison, 72, was driving his pickup truck north on Highway 49 near French Camp Road when the accident happened. Shannon Shipman, 46 of Mariposa, was a passenger in the truck.

Investigators say Harrison fled the scene and was later found at his home on Bear Valley Road. They said Harrison was under the influence at the time of the collision. He was arrested and booked into the Mariposa County Jail on DUI, hit and run, and manslaughter charges.

The bicyclist died at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.
