SELMA, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Selma Police Department is getting a better look at its downtown area through new cameras.

Selma police installed six surveillance cameras throughout town. They hope they act as a deterrent to future crime. Three cameras are set up in downtown, three more in Shaffer Park. All of the cameras are monitored at their dispatch.

The cameras were paid for by a state grant. The department is applying for more grants hoping to add more cameras in the future.
