South Valley cell phone store has been hit by vandals three times within a month

VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Employees of MetroPCS on Mooney Boulevard in Visalia have had to pick up pieces of glass and board up the front windows that were smashed by vandals three times.

It happened twice in June, and again on Sunday.

They're smashing expensive windows, but strangely, not grabbing any valuable electronics inside.

"It's just like why they're doing it, intentionally probably. Just to, I don't know, get under our skin," said Maria Rayo, MetroPCS Manager.

Rayo said surveillance hasn't helped them identify any suspects. But the store's owner believes the same people may be targeting her.

In February of last year, thieves broke into the store twice and stole $10,000 in cell phones. Visalia Police said they've received the most recent report, and a detective will take over the case.

But right now there aren't any leads, and for the time being, the store is closed. Turning potential customers away, and sending employees home.

The cigar shop next door is still open, but they said their window was also broken last week.

"Maybe find a better hobby, something else to do. I mean, maybe they're having fun with it, but we're the ones dealing with it, so," said Rayo.

They're dealing with it, but desperately hoping it doesn't happen again.
