Two Cal Fire trucks, car crash on HWY 41 in Fresno
Two Cal Fire trucks and a car were involved in an accident on southbound Highway 41 in Fresno.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Traffic along southbound Highway 41 was backed up for much of the afternoon from Shaw Avenue to near the Madera County line on Monday because of a crash involving two Cal Fire engines returning home from the Courtney Fire in Oakhurst.

A California Highway Patrol investigator says one fire truck was slowing for stopped traffic, but the second fire truck that was following was unable to stop in time and struck the rear end of a car. That car then smashed into the rear end of the first fire truck.

Three people inside the car received major injuries. Paramedics transported them to the hospital.

There were four crew members on each fire truck, and none of them was injured.
