Former business partners of double murder suspects speak out
Murder suspect Dave McCann is in custody after a four-day manhunt, but the recovery process is still fresh for family and friends.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Murder suspect Dave McCann is in custody after a four-day manhunt. Police said McCann killed his estranged wife and her mother and police finally arrested him in the central coast town of Seaside in Monterey County Wednesday morning. But family and friends said the recovery process is still fresh.

As officers piece together their case against McCann, those closest to him are also trying to solve the puzzle.

"I don't think there is one doubt that everyone on this team, in some form or another, wishes they could have done something. They could have seen something or recognized the signs, but we did not," said Darren Holden, co-founder of business.

Holden was the co-founder of an energy and property solutions company with McCann. The business kicked off January this year. So far, the 90-day partnership has left him and other partners with more questions than answers.

"It's been very confusing for all of us, as we learn a little bit more information because it doesn't fit with who we thought he was," said Mary Ramer, worked with McCann.

McCann's business partners said they wanted to contribute to non-profits-- give back to the community. But it didn't go as smoothly as planned and soon there was stress over finances.

"We noticed the sales weren't starting to happen. There were leads in the pipeline, his business was ready to be transacted-- we had assurances that there was backing-- that wasn't coming through," said Holden.

The business worked out of McCann's home in Clovis-- the scene of Saturday's double murder.

Many of the business partners said they had been close with his wife and other family members.

"I can't even imagine how the family is-- I can't even put my mind there. It's been so hard for all of us," said Ramer.

Many said they wish they had recognized those red flags earlier and they felt like they were conned by a man who appeared to be so friendly and so nice.

"I felt as if Dave died, not just the family, because who we thought he was-- it isn't even there," said Ramer.

McCann is still being held in the Fresno County jail and his bond is set at $2-million.
