Valley woman celebrates 113th birthday
A Valley woman has a great reason to celebrate -- she turned 113 years old on Sunday.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Valley woman has a great reason to celebrate -- she turned 113 years old on Sunday. Ardelean Butler was born on this date in 1902. She lives at Pacific Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Peach Avenue and Kings Canyon Road in Southeast Fresno. Her friends and family joined here there for cake and lots of photos.

Ardelean grew up in Oklahoma and also lived in Sacramento and Los Angeles before coming to Fresno, so just imagine the things she's seen. She has one child. And at one time, she worked at a factory in the Bay Area. Her niece says one of her favorite things to do is eat.

Other notable things that happened in 1902: the U.S. Census formed, President Teddy Roosevelt became the first U.S. Chief Executive to ride in a car, and the first Rose Bowl game was played in Pasadena.
