FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The head coach of the Mendota High School football team was arrested on charges of insurance fraud. Mendota police took Coach Beto Mejia into custody at the district office on Wednesday morning. He is facing four charges related to one accusation of insurance fraud -- with a total claim of about $4,000.

Arturo Andrade, a former Mendota High School football player, has also been charged with insurance fraud.

The Mendota Unified School District confirmed in a press release that Mejia was arrested, but said they did not believe any other employees or students were involved. They said Mejia has been placed on administrative leave and assistants will continue to coach the football team.

In February, Coach Beto Mejia and the Mendota High School football team was featured in an ESPN documentary highlighting the success of Aztec program.
