Watson late FTs lifts Fresno State over Pacific, 70-68 in OT

STOCKTON, Calif. -- Paul Watson scored 18 points and made a pair of free throws with 29.3 seconds left in overtime to lift Fresno State over Pacific 70-68 on Saturday night.

The Tigers opened the extra period with a 4-0 spurt. Jahmel Taylor answered with two from the line, Terrell Carter II converted a 3-point play and the Bulldogs led 68-67. Ray Bowles split a pair of free throws to tie it at 68 with 1:31 to go. Both teams missed shots on their next possessions before Watson was fouled driving for a layup, and then made two free throws.

Bowles missed a jumper, and Maleke Haynes and Jack Williams couldn't make the tip-ins to end it.

Cullen Russo and Bryson Williams added 13 points apiece for Fresno State (8-3).

T.J. Wallace scored 17 points for Pacific (4-7). Bowles and Anthony Townes each added 16 points.

Taylor hit a 3 with 5.4 seconds remaining to tie it at 63 and force overtime.
