Grant Johnson
Grant covers the stories that matter to the Central Valley, and he brings an investigative mindset to every assignment. He earned his master's degree in investigative journalism from Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, where he learned to use public records, data and emerging technology to dig deeper.
While at Cronkite, Grant reported for the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism. For his master's capstone, he led a national investigation, traveling the country and filing public records requests with all 50 states.
Before Fresno, Grant spent time learning from some of the best journalists in the country, most recently at 9News in Denver, FOX in Los Angeles and NBC 5 in Dallas, contributing to both live and long-form reporting. His work has been recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists and the Television Academy Foundation. He earned his bachelor's degree in television and digital media production from Ithaca College, the alma mater of ABC's David Muir. Grant has long admired the work of ABC journalists like Muir, and joining the ABC Owned Television Stations was a goal he set for himself early in his career.
Grant's goal for every story is simple: he wants viewers to feel "better" after watching, whether they met a neighbor, learned something new or saw an issue in a different light because of the facts in front of them.
Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Grant is excited to call the Central Valley home. When he's not chasing a story, you can find him on a hiking trail, out for a run or exploring the local food scene.
