Fresno man showcased during ALS Awareness Month

FRESNO, Calif.

Trent Thompson, 35, of Fresno was diagnosed with the fatal muscle disorder in 2004.

Prior to that, he served in the Gulf War as a medic with the Navy.

Thompson's story was chosen out of thousands to be showcased on the Muscular Distrophy Awareness website.

He wrote the story using his feet to type on this computer which now serves as his connection to the outside world.

"I was very active before. I ran, worked and had different plans for the future."

"He's always been positive. He's always been one to live everyday to its fullest and he does that well," Terry Thompson said.

Thompson says his 5-year-old son, Jake helps get him through each day.
