"If you lose it's on yourself. You have to know what you did wrong to improve yourself better - to be the best." said Morales.
Mature for her age and extremely smart, Merijah used that strong mind frame to perfection this past May when she pulled off a triple crown winning USA wrestling state titles in Girls Folkstyle girls freestyle and boys freestyle that's her in the tutu after beating all the boys.
"The guys are like 'Oh I can beat this girl. She's just a girl.' And then once you beat them and they see you wearing a tutu it's like 'I did lose to her.' And they get so shy and stuff." added Morales.
Even though Merijah is only going into the seventh grade it was that win over the boys that she hopes will be a statement for other girls in sports.
"I wore that tutu to show that girls can beat boys. It's just the fact that girls don't respect girls as much as they respect guys. I think they try harder to beat us so we don't beat them." said Morales.
She's obviously an outstanding wrestler, but that's just a part of what makes her unique.
Combine a fun personality with a 4.0 GPA and the unwavering support of her family and the sky is the limit for Merijah.
"From what I can see, she could be a world champ. Right now she believes she's the best girl in the world in her age and weight. She honestly believes that. She doesn't think there's anybody in the world that can beat her. Any girl out there. (Do you agree?) I agree." said Morales' coach Issac Pumarejo.
Pumarejo would know.
He also coaches Marina and Regina Doi of Kingsburg who are doing big things on the international stage.
The twins' influence on Merijah has already been seen.
"I expect her to be out there with her practice partners. With Marina and Regina. I could see these girls all being on the same team together, all travelling together, all working out in the same spot together right here in Fresno, and dominating the world." added Pumarejo.
A passionate Merijah looks forward to someday representing her country.
If the sport can keep its place in the Olympics, she knows what she needs to do to get there.
"Really hard work, and just trying to improve myself to be better. And just knowing that someday I can achieve that goal and work really hard to achieve it." said Morales.
With passionate starlets like Merijah ready to represent the USA, Olympic organizers may want to take a second look.
