FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Hundreds of students at Central Unified received a warm winter coat Tuesday thanks to Granville Homes.

Action News saw the children as they got to pick out their favorite outerwear.

More than 750 coats were donated to Central Unified benefiting students at every single school in the district.

Officials said the giveaway has become an annual tradition for the last 10 years.

"This is one of those things where you just see the joy in their eyes and you just see the excitement and it's just something we know is going to really be a good thing for them once the weather turns," said Mark Sutton, Superintendent.

School officials said ensuring students get a warm coat also helps increase their chances of coming to school every day during the winter months.
