Big changes at ABC30: Jason Oliveira moves to evenings, Cory James returns as AM Live anchor

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Action News is excited to announce Jason Oliveira's new role with the station, along with the return of Cory James.

Starting this fall, Jason will begin anchoring evening newscasts as Warren Armstrong prepares to retire.

Warren will sign off Action News on Wednesday, November 25.

On Monday, November 30, Jason will begin co-anchoring Action News Live at Five with Graciela Moreno and Action News Live at Six with Margot Kim.

Jason recently celebrated 20 years with Action News and has spent the last four years as AM Live co-anchor.

"It is truly an honor to follow in Warren's footsteps. For decades, he has been a trusted voice in the Valley, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to help carry that tradition forward. While it's bittersweet to step away from the morning show and the viewers who've welcomed me into their homes each day, I'm excited for this next chapter. I look forward to continuing to tell the stories that matter most to the Valley and spending my evenings with you right here on ABC30, alongside Graciela Moreno and Margot Kim," Jason said.

With Jason transitioning to his new role, Cory will return to Action News as AM Live co-anchor alongside Jessica Harrington, meteorologist Christine Gregory and reporter Danyelle Burke North.

Cory left the Central Valley six years ago and worked in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta.

"I left here six years ago, with tears in my eyes, to chase my childhood dreams in New York City, Washington, D.C., and most recently, my hometown, Atlanta. With each new chapter, I always thought about this incredible station and the amazing people here in the Valley. When I got the opportunity to come back, I jumped on it with no hesitation because this is where I was the happiest. I can't wait to share that joy again and get involved with various local organizations while also reconnecting with so many of you in the community in the days, months, and years to come," Cory said.

Cory will begin his new role on Monday, August 17.
