FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Evacuation orders are currently in place for some Fresno County residents as firefighters continue to battle a new wildfire burning about six miles south of Shaver Lake.
The Blue Fire broke out around 4:30 pm on Tuesday near Big Creek Road and Soaproot Saddle Road.
Sierra National Forest officials confirmed the fire had charred 125 acres so far. At last report, at least one structure was threatened by the flames.
Evacuation orders are in effect along Peterson Mill Road and Bretz Mill Campground down to Nutmeg Saddle.
At least two homes are under those orders, and several campgrounds in the area are now under warnings.
The smoke and glow have been growing since Tuesday night.
Crews say the fire is heading toward an area where the massive Creek Fire destroyed brush and timber last year.
Around 100 firefighters were called to help battle the Blue Fire. Officials expect to double the number of firefighters by later Wednesday morning.
It is not known what started the fire.
