LIVE: Trial of teen girl suspect in Caleb Quick murder continues

Henry Newman, a church friend of Cassandra, testified Tuesday that he spent time with her in the days following Caleb's shooting and did not initially notice anything unusual about her behavior.

Newman said he "absolutely" knows Cassandra and identified her in court, saying that he has known her through church for three to four years, dating back to their freshman year, when they attended Wednesday youth group meetings and Sunday services together.

Newman testified he was not at McDonald's on the night of the shooting.

Asked about the day after the shooting, Newman said he attended a grievance gathering the next morning. He testified that "everyone he knew" was there, including Cassandra.

"She was with us the whole day," Newman said. He testified that the group later got Dutch Bros and went swimming. At the time, he said Cassandra appeared to be acting normally, though "looking back now there are a few suspicions."

Newman also testified that Cassandra told him he could "have her Tesla" after he complained about not having a car. He said he laughed it off and did not think she was serious.

That Tesla was later identified as the getaway car and seized by Clovis police.

ABC30 is now identifying Cassandra Michael. While the case is being heard in juvenile court, the suspect is now 18 years old, and a judge has allowed unrestricted camera access in the courtroom.

Tuesday's hearing began with more testimony from Carlos Navarro, a friend of the two teen suspects.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Kendall Reynolds asked Navarro whether he had contact with the teen girl following the shooting.

Navarro says he called her shortly after it happened to her that Quick had been shot. He did not recall her reaction.

Navarro then describes a moment inside the McDonald's prior to the shooting. He says when the masked man walked in, he immediately told his friends the man reminded him of the girl's boyfriend, now accused of being the gunman.

Navarro says the teen girl quickly denied his claims, saying things like "that's not possible," and "he doesn't even dress like that."

Surveillance video from the restaurant then shows the moment Navarro says the teen girl told him about an allegation of sexual assault involving Caleb Quick. Navarro is seen in the video leaning in, listening intently as she describes the allegation.

He described her demeanor at this point as "on edge."

Navarro says the next time he saw her was the next morning, at Quick's grievance, where he saw her crying.

New testimony from friends who stood just feet away.

Two of Caleb Quick's friends recounted the moments they witnessed his fatal shooting Monday, providing some of the most terrifying testimony yet in the juvenile trial of the teenage girl accused of acting as the getaway driver.

The first day of witness testimony inside Fresno County Superior Court focused on the events immediately before and after the shooting outside a Clovis McDonald's, where prosecutors allege the defendant helped her teenage boyfriend carry out a plan to kill Quick.

"Yes, I watched his body drop," testified Michael Salinas.
