The Kingsburg Police Department says a man's body was found in the road just after midnight at Clarkson and 12th Avenue.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The man who was found dead in a roadway near Kingsburg last month after being hit by a car had also been shot, according to authorities.

Gary Banks, 30, was found in the road just after midnight on May 11 at Clarkson and 12th Avenue.

On Friday, Fresno County sheriff's officials say he was hit by several cars, but an autopsy report said he had also suffered from a gunshot wound.

The official cause of Banks' death wasn't immediately clear, and detectives are working to determine a timeline leading up to his death.
