Hundreds of volunteers help families in need

From administrators to students, members of the Central Unified School District collaborated to gather food for more than 300 local families.

Nearly 200 people volunteered to help. Some volunteers worked to collect dry and canned food while others organized the food into separate boxes. And the rest helped hand it all out to the families who have children who attend the schools.

The giving didn't stop there. "We had so much food donated by our whole community that we were able to also serve families who don't necessarily have kids who go to the schools but live in this district," said Sonja Dosti with the school district.

The holiday joy event has been happening annually for almost 20 years.
