Phil Arballo announces run for Congress; list to replace Devin Nunes grows

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Democrat Phil Arballo is throwing his name into a growing list of candidates trying to replace Representative Devin Nunes.

Arballo made the announcement Thursday afternoon.

He will now run in the special election to represent California's 22nd Congressional District.

He lost to Nunes in the 2020 election but said he's the strongest candidate to flip the district blue.

With no incumbent, this race is considered wide open, with two prominent Republican leaders, Nathan Magsig and Andreas Borgeas, confirming their candidacy earlier this week.
