FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man and woman married more than 50 years have been identified as the victims in a deadly head-on crash.

Visalia Police say 72-year-old Sue Cheek and 77-year-old Darrell Cheek were killed last night after their Nissan collided with a pickup truck.

Investigators say the pickup veered off Highway 198 and drove into oncoming traffic on Mineral King Avenue.

That's when the two vehicles crashed.

The Cheek's granddaughter Amanda Waymire says the retired Ivanhoe residents were giving, loving, and put family first.

They had two children, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, with another on the way.

Waymire says Darrell was a Vietnam Veteran and former auto parts salesman.

Sue was a longtime office manager before retiring. The driver of the pickup has been identified as 30-year-old Devin Terry.

He was taken to the hospital with major injuries. Right now, police don't know why he drove into on-coming traffic.
