10-year-old boy dies after being struck by truck while riding bicycle in Atwater

ATWATER, Calif. (KFSN) -- A 10-year-old boy died after being struck by a truck while riding a bicycle Tuesday evening in Atwater, according to police.

Officers were called to the crash at about 7:13 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Bridgewater Street and Oriole Way.

When Atwater police arrived, they found the child had suffered multiple injuries to different parts of his body.

Medical treatment was provided at the scene before the boy was transported to a hospital. He later died from his injuries. Police identified the victim as a 10-year-old boy.

The driver of the truck was a woman who remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said the case remains under investigation.

School resource officers were available at the boy's school on Friday to provide support following his death.
