4 Central Valley Doctors awarded $55,000 in scholarships

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Four local doctors were awarded $55,000 each in scholarships.

On Sunday, the San Joaquin Valley Medical Scholarship Foundation awarded checks to doctors here in the Valley.

The foundation's goal is to increase the number of Primary Care Physicians in the Central Valley.

The awards ceremony was hosted at Fort Washington Country Club in Northeast Fresno with a brunch and speakers.

The scholarship money will be used to help pay medical tuition debt.

The foundation was founded in 2019, awarding their first scholarship in 2002 as recipients agree to practice in the Central Valley upon graduation for 4 years.
