FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- In the last two games, the Bulldog defense has come away with eight takeaways, with one of those picks against Nevada being snagged by nickelback Simeon Harris.
Harris' journey out of high school led him to play for Deion Sanders at Colorado, then suit up for Utah State. But the first Vallejo native's first offer was to Fresno State.
His decision to transfer to the Valley made sense in more ways than one.
"Trying to do what's best for the team, I'm willing to do whatever for the team, special teams or defense," Harris said. "If coach needs me to play offense, I'll go play some offense. We're all family here, we really got that family culture."
Family may have been what sealed the deal when he was in the transfer portal.
His mom, Kelly, and her twin sister Kim were bulldog cheerleaders in the '90s. They were both from Tennessee but wanted to be Bulldogs.
"I think she had a vision of a bulldog or something and told her dad I want to go to Fresno State. [Entz] called me and tells me everything and I'm like, 'yeah, I want to be a Bulldog,'" Harris said. "Told my mom and she was excited. She was like 'Please, son, stay there.' She's been wanting me to be a Bulldog forever now."
Coach Entz thanking momma Harris for sealing the deal as Simeon is tied for the team lead in interceptions (2) and has the second most solo tackles on the team (14).
