Community gathers to remember Whisper Owen and 8-month-old baby

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The community came together to remember the missing mother and her infant baby who were found dead in a Northern California canal.

On Sunday, August 17, Whisper Owen and baby Sandra were found in Stanislaus County, submerged in their vehicle near Highway 120 and Victory Road.

That's where many gathered Saturday night to honor the mother and daughter with a candlelight vigil.

The pair went missing on July 15 after they left Fresno to return home to Sacramento.

The Fresno Police Department is handling this case as the investigation continues.

The family has set up a donation page to help with funeral costs.
