Dinkey Mill area roads repaired 3 years after heavy storm damage

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Driving in the High Sierra just got a little easier, especially in the Dinkey Creek area near the old logging mill.

Nearly three years ago, heavy storms and snow severely damaged many of the backcountry routes, forcing the US Forest Service to restrict access to some campgrounds, trailheads and popular recreational sites.

In March, the Sierra National Forest received more than $3 million in American Relief Act money to repair 156 miles of roads in the Dinkey Mill area.

Since that time, crews have cleaned culverts, reopened drainage ditches, repaved and rebuilt washed-out roads to provide improved stability for trucks and SUV's.
