FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fire officials are blaming an overnight fire in Central Fresno on overloaded electrical equipment.
Authorities say the fire started in the kitchen area of the Tower Cafe at Olive and Wishon around 11 p.m. Tuesday. Crews say they were able to put out the fire fairly quickly before it spread to other businesses in the area -- including the Tower Theatre next door.
A man walking in the area was among the first to see the fire. He was the one who alerted other people about the flames.
"We're like 'oh my gosh!' We put our hands on the window there to see if it was hot, whatever, noticed it was all smoky, real warm. Ran over to Pinot next door and all the businesses and just said 'hey, get out, get out as fast as you can, call 911,'" said Patrick Olvera.
Businesses nearby were evacuated because of the fire, but no injuries were reported.
