CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- A former Clovis High School counselor could soon face prison time.
Prosecutors accuse Estevan Reyes of sexually abusing a 14 or 15-year-old in 2023.
Reyes had been a counselor with the Clovis Unified School District since May of 2016 and began working at Clovis High in July 2022.
He later pleaded no contest to a lewd act upon a child and faced two years of community service.
Today, a new court commissioner had concerns and indicated he would sentence Reyes to two years in prison, not community service.
Reyes now has time to change his plea before returning in December for the formal sentencing.
