Fresno Police host blood drive for annual North Valley 'Battle of the Badges'

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Law enforcement agencies and the community are taking action to help save lives, one pint at a time.

The 25th annual North Valley "Battle of the Badges" blood drive is taking place until Friday.

Fresno Police announced you can stop police headquarters from 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. to donate blood.

Participants will receive a free T-shirt for donating.

It's a friendly competition between Fresno and Madera first responders, fire crews, sheriffs, police, and probation departments raising the most blood donations for the Central California Blood Center.

Fresno Police sergeant, Diana Vega shares that it's important to give help people whose lives change in instant.

"While you might be healthy and thriving one moment, you never know when yourself, somebody else in your family or close to you might be dependent on blood donations. And that is why it's important for us to continue saving lives not only while on duty, while off duty and by sitting down at the chair and donating blood" Vega says.
